No-Nail Technique

Nearly all modern classical guitarists play with nails, to the extent that most are unaware of the long and important history of guitarists playing with the flesh of the fingertips — including some of the greatest guitarists (such as Sor, Tárrega and Pujol). In late 2020 I cut off my nails and embarked on a study of no-nails technique. Soon after, I began a YouTube channel, where you can find many videos of me playing using the technique. I’m currently pursuing a PhD on the subject at the International Guitar Research Centre (University of Surrey), supervised by Stephen Goss.

I have a separate website dedicated to no-nail guitar, with lots of information about the history, players, technique and more. Please do check it out!
